COUNTABLE

Workout accountability with friends

The plainest way to keep working out is to make your week visible to people who will notice. A buddy who can see you still have 40 push-ups left on Friday is harder to ignore than a reminder you can swipe away.

What the research says

Neither study was about CountAble, and neither promises you a result. They are the reason CountAble is built around a weekly number your team can see.

Four habits that make it work

  1. A weekly number, not a someday goal. A week is short enough to matter. A bad week ends on Sunday, and a fresh one starts.
  2. Everyone counts their own thing. Miles and push-ups can sit on the same team. Nobody is measured on someone else's sport.
  3. One scoreboard everyone sees. Seeing who is done and who has some left does the nudging for you.
  4. Something small on the line, if your team likes that. Agree on it together, keep it as a score, and make good on it in person.

How CountAble does it

  1. Start a team and invite your buddies. Each invite is a one-time code you send from your own Messages.
  2. Each person picks an activity and a weekly number. You can also set a big goal by a date, such as 10,000 push-ups by December 31, and the app works out your weekly number.
  3. Mark days done as you go, or let Apple Health fill in what your Apple Watch recorded. Your card shows what is left.
  4. Every Sunday the team gets the week's board: who is DONE, who FELL SHORT, and the TEAM HOT STREAK.

What it costs

Teams come with the Basic plan, $3.99 a month. A friend who accepts your team invite gets Basic free for 30 days, once per person. The Free plan is the app by hand, on your own. Premium, $12.99 a month, adds your own AI coach. CountAble is coming soon to the iOS App Store.
